Well, that explains a lot...

A couple of notes:

Some newsbits have recently come to light which explain quite a bit...

Now that the Big Show is the ONLY person to have ever held the WWE, WCW AND ECW World Heavyweight Championships, do we think that will stick? Or is CB right, and will Jericho come back to ECW to show Show who's the man?

Finally, if you look at the WWE/ECW.com "live events" page, it lists some new wrestlers that will be debuting soon for ECW (at least at house shows): Fertig (the vampire, formerly Seven in OVW and Mordecai on Smackdown), Doug Basham (remember him?), Derrick Neikirk (current Deep South Champion) and Ryan O'Reilly (also in DSW). So that's 11 "new" members of the ECW roster if you include Big Show, Kurt Angle, CM Punk, Test, Mike Knox, Kelly and Trinity. With the jury still out on Test and Knox, I'd still have to say that those aren't BAD additions. I'm still interested anyway...

Jericho has enough money not to come back. If he wanted to be in the business, he'd still be there - same with The Rock and Goldberg. Once that superstar ego kicks in, certain wrestlers head for greener pastures - even though no wrestler has really acheived mainstream credibility (though I think The Rock is only a good agent away from doing so).

That roster is way too bloated for a 60 minute show. Wanna know what I'd do?

Keep Balls, Credible, Angle, Roadkill, Doring (gotta have a jobber/tag team in there somewhere), RVD, Sabu, Sandman, Snow, Richards, Funk, Dreamer, The F.B.I., Fertig, and Punk. That's around 15 or 16 people. I'd add Tajiri and Super Crazy just to round things out, since Funk/Angle/Sabu/RVD aren't going to be wrestling any time soon. That's like 14 or so active members, which is more than enough considering there's only like 3 matches/week. Build angles around these guys (personally, I would've had a tourney for the ECW belt to begin with, then you can develop feuds/faces/heels from there). After the 12 week deal is up, if the cards were played correctly, then maybe they'd be offered a 2-hour deal - then they could hire more workers. Like I said before, a crowded roster on a 60 minute show leads to clusterfucks of TNA-sized proportions.

Keeping the roster nice and trim for now would also be a smart business move, as there's less paychecks to hand out to wrestlers that aren't doing anything.

A mass influx of "outsiders" is going to piss off the hardcore ECW fans, as well - and I'd guess (judging from the ECW on TNN ratings) that they make up about a third of the current audience. Even if they only make up a quarter of the current viewers, it's not a good idea to alienate 25% of your customers.

I'm really not against bringing new talent into ECW. I think we're going to see big things from Punk, and Angle was a good choice. However, I'd bring the new guys in slowly, and only bring in ones that have a style that meshes well with ECW. I'd be totally down with seeing Gunner Scott in an ECW ring - I wouldn't even have a problem with Edge coming in. I was hoping against all hopes that Edge would shock the audience and become the new ECW champion.

Sticking the belt on TBS just cheapens the whole deal for me. I'd sooner see Kane in ECW than him (please Mr. Heyman, if you're reading this, don't bring Kane in out of spite).
